Chapter Four

I fell asleep wondering if I should be more careful, because I was in bed with a murderer, my ass shoved against his groin and my fingers laced with his.

I woke up to the sound of the bathroom door opening as Silas stepped out, and the muffled murmurs of Amy and Wood talking in the kitchen. And I smelled coffee. Those little plunkers.

I wanted to stumble out immediately and demand my fair share of the hot, bitter beverage, but instead, I looked to Silas. I opened my mouth to speak, but a yawn came out instead, loud and rumbly, and of course then I couldn’t help but to stretch, my arms and legs straining as they unworked the kinks that had settled in during the night.

His eyes fastened on me, sharp and sultry, and I blushed even as my hole clenched and my cock twitched in interest. “Your friend and her paramour are up,” he pointed out. “I can work some simple magics to keep them from revealing me, but only if I have some of their DNA.”

I nodded. “If I distract them in the kitchen, can you take what you need from the room? I don’t know if they’ve brought their bags out yet…”

He nodded. “If there’s nothing else suitable, I may be able to take what I need from the sheet,” he said delicately.

I coughed. “Okay. Um. Right.” I swung my feet over the side. “Ugh. I really don’t want to have to deal with them this morning.”

Silas raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, yeah,” I teased him. “I’m going, Alpha, I’m going.” I froze in place. I hadn’t meant to assume such a familiar role, but - He stepped forward and pressed a kiss to my forehead. I preened.

“Get out there, pet,” he murmured.

I grinned back at him as I flounced out the door.

“You made me coffee!” I said loudly, and strode on into the kitchen.

Amy’s smile was apologetic. “Actually, Rum,” she said, “We had more than one cup, and…”

My face fell. “Fine,” I mumbled, and moved to make another pot of the black stuff. It wasn’t like it was my preferred beverage - that honor fell to rich, creamy hot chocolate with chili pepper.

“I don’t think you’ll have enough time to make a pot,” Wood said. “Amy and I need to get on the road; we’ve got just enough time to hit a drive through for some actual breakfast, and you’ve got to get yourself ready for school. It’s a long drive back down.”

“Oh, I’m not going today,” I said cheerfully. “But thanks for the suggestion.”

“Like hell you’re not,” Wood growled, and I was truly puzzled as to what his deal was.

“Would you care to drag me in front of the administration about it?” I asked him sweetly. “I’m taking a mental health day.” He was fuming. That scowl on his face was enough to start thunder booming somewhere. I raised an eyebrow. “Dude, really? You broke into my dead mother’s cabin with one of your students,
